Science! (PIP).
A Jeskai energy-and-artifacts deck led by Dr. Madison Li — generate energy counters through artifacts and creatures entering the battlefield, then unleash that energy with explosive payoffs like Aetherworks Marvel.
The Commanders
Science! is a Jeskai Commander deck from the Fallout crossover themed around energy and scientific discovery. Dr. Madison Li generates energy through artifacts and creatures entering the battlefield, building toward powerful energy payoffs from the Kaladesh block. The deck is one of the first Commander products to lean fully into energy as a primary engine rather than a supplemental mechanic — and the synergies between energy generators and payoffs are tight.
Dr. Madison Li generates energy when artifacts enter the battlefield under your control and rewards spending energy on powerful activated abilities. She enables the deck's core loop: cast an artifact, gain energy, spend energy on payoffs, repeat. Alternative commanders Liberty Prime, Recharged and Satya, Aetherflux Genius provide different angles for energy-focused and artifact-token strategies.
Key Cards
Aetherworks Marvel
The deck's most powerful energy sink. Tap Aetherworks Marvel and pay six energy to look at the top six cards of your library and cast any card from among them for free. A free permanent from the top six cards — potentially an Ulamog, a game-ending planeswalker, or any bomb in the deck. With the deck generating six-plus energy per turn through Dr. Li, you activate Marvel every single turn. It's the most commonly added card to this precon at 50% of upgrades because it converts energy into guaranteed game-winning threats.
Panharmonicon
Doubles all enter-the-battlefield abilities. Every creature that enters and generates energy now generates double energy. Dr. Li's artifact-entry triggers generate double energy. Solemn Simulacrum ramps and draws twice. Nick Valentine and other Fallout-themed ETB creatures trigger twice. In a deck already built around maximizing ETB effects, Panharmonicon doubles the effectiveness of the entire engine. A single Panharmonicon turns three energy per artifact entry into six energy per entry.
Nick Valentine
A Fallout character card that generates energy and provides utility. Nick Valentine creates Clue tokens and energy when he enters, fueling the engine while also providing card draw from Clue sacrifices. He embodies the deck's theme of Fallout science synergizing with Kaladesh-style energy mechanics. The combination of Clue generation and energy production gives the deck multiple resources simultaneously from one card.
Liberty Prime, Recharged
The deck's biggest Fallout-themed threat. Liberty Prime, Recharged is a massive artifact creature that accumulates energy counters and converts them into devastating attacks. He generates tokens, grows with counters, and serves as both the energy sink and the win condition in a single card. Alternative commanders often run Liberty Prime as the commander for an energy-becomes-power variant that wins through combat damage with an enormous robot.
Mechanized Production
An Aura enchantment that copies the artifact it enchants every upkeep, and wins the game when you control eight or more artifacts with the same name. Enchant a Treasure, Clue, or Food token — you create one more copy every upkeep. With Academy Manufactor also in play, creating one extra Treasure each upkeep means also creating Clues and Foods alongside it. Mechanized Production is a slow alternate win condition that becomes very fast in a deck with reliable token generation.
Solemn Simulacrum
Ramp and draw in one artifact. Solemn Simulacrum enters and fetches a basic land, then draws a card when it dies. It's an artifact that triggers Dr. Li's energy generation, Panharmonicon doubles both ETB abilities, and the land ramp keeps you on curve. In a deck that needs to hit five or six mana reliably each game, Solemn Simulacrum provides both ramp and card draw while also feeding the energy engine through its artifact type.
How to Play
Establish mana rocks in the first two turns and Dr. Madison Li on turn three. From turn four onward, cast an artifact every turn to generate energy with her ability. Prioritize getting Panharmonicon down early — it doubles every energy trigger and turns the accumulation rate from manageable to explosive. Keep energy above six at all times to activate Aetherworks Marvel the moment it resolves.
The mid-game loop is: cast artifact, gain energy, spend energy on Marvel or Liberty Prime activations, generate more board presence. Aetherworks Marvel hitting a Liberty Prime, Recharged or another major payoff for free is the deck's defining moment. Win through combat damage from an army of artifacts animated by Liberty Prime, Mechanized Production reaching eight copies for an alternate win, or simply overwhelming the table with consecutive free spells from Aetherworks Marvel activations every turn.
