Do proxies need special sleeves?
Yes — standard clear-back sleeves let the different proxy back show through. You need a sleeve with a fully opaque back (opacity 9/10 or higher). Dual Matte, Katana, and Gamegenic Prime all qualify.
What is double-sleeving and do I need it for proxies?
Double-sleeving means adding an inner perfect-fit sleeve over the card before the outer sleeve. For proxies, it adds thickness to thin printed paper (170–200gsm) so the card feels closer to a real card. It also seats the card more securely inside the outer sleeve. Recommended for 180gsm or lighter cardstock.
Which inner sleeve pairs best with which outer?
KMC Perfect Fit (64×89mm) is the most universal inner sleeve and pairs with any outer. Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sealable pairs naturally with Dragon Shield outers and has a sealable top. Ultra Pro PRO-Fit is the tightest fit and works well under any standard-size outer.
Why is KMC Hyper Mat only Tier S despite durability concerns?
The shuffle feel at 9.5/10 is genuinely the best on the market and that matters significantly for tournament and competitive play. The corner-bending issue mostly appears at extreme shuffle volumes over months — for proxy decks sleeved for Commander play, it's not a significant practical concern. If shuffle feel is your priority, KMC wins.
