commander · Mishra, Eminent One
Mishra's Burnished Banner (BRC).
A Rakdos artifact deck led by Mishra, Eminent One, copy your artifacts each combat to flood the board with powerful tokens, sacrifice them for value, and bury opponents under exponential artifact advantage.
The Commanders
Mishra's Burnished Banner is a Brothers' War Commander deck about copying artifacts. Mishra, Eminent One copies your noncreature artifacts each combat, and those Powerstone copies sacrifice themselves at end of turn, so you get a fresh copy every combat step. Stack artifact ETB triggers, drain, and sacrifice payoffs and you make more value per turn than most decks can interact with.
Mishra, Eminent One is the engine the whole deck is built around. Each combat, he copies a noncreature artifact you control as a tapped 3/3 Powerstone artifact creature token. The copy vanishes at end of turn, but before it goes you collect every ETB trigger from whatever it copied. Pair him with Marionette Master, Jhoira, or Scrap Trawler and each combat step is a different value machine going off.
Ashnod the Uncaring is the alternative commander for sacrifice loops. She lets your artifact tokens sacrifice themselves to trigger more effects, so your end-of-turn Powerstone sacrifices pay you off instead of just disappearing. In grindy matchups where you need more raw value, Ashnod stretches the deck's sacrifice theme further.
Key Cards
Marionette Master
Whenever an artifact you control hits a graveyard, Marionette Master drains each opponent for life equal to that artifact's converted mana cost. When Mishra copies an artifact and the copy sacrifices at end of turn, each opponent loses life equal to that artifact's cost. Copy a Gilded Lotus with Mishra, let it sacrifice, and drain everyone for five. It happens every turn as Powerstones disappear, which makes Marionette Master a steady clock that never needs to attack.
Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain
Jhoira draws a card whenever you cast a historic spell, and since artifacts are historic, that is nearly everything you cast here. In a deck that plays five artifacts a turn, she refills your hand every turn you go off. She also sets up chains: cast a cheap artifact, draw, cast the one you drew, draw again. Add a cost reducer like Foundry Inspector and a hand of cheap artifacts becomes a card draw loop. Jhoira is your most important draw engine.
Emry, Lurker of the Loch
Emry costs one less for each artifact you control, so she is a one- or two-drop by the mid-game. She mills four cards when she enters and lets you cast artifact cards from your graveyard each turn. When Mishra's Powerstone tokens vanish, those artifacts land in the graveyard, and Emry plays them back out. She recurs artifacts and fills the graveyard at the same time, closing the sacrifice-and-replay loop that keeps the engine running.
Scrap Trawler
When an artifact you control dies, Scrap Trawler returns an artifact of lesser mana cost from your graveyard to your hand. Each Powerstone token that sacrifices at end of turn triggers it and hands you an artifact back. Run a sacrifice chain across several artifacts and Scrap Trawler returns one per death, often clawing back everything you threw away earlier in the chain. It is the glue that keeps the engine from running out of gas.
Foundry Inspector
Foundry Inspector makes each artifact spell you cast cost one less. In a deck that drops five to ten artifacts a turn, that is close to a Sol Ring on a 3/2 body. It powers the storm-like turns where you chain cheap artifacts, trigger Jhoira over and over, and flood the board before opponents can react. Cost reducers stack, too: with two Foundry Inspectors your two-mana artifacts are free, which opens up infinite loops with the right pieces.
How to Play
Get your cost reducers and draw engines down in the first four turns: Foundry Inspector, Jhoira, Emry. Land Mishra, Eminent One as early as you can, then start each combat by copying the best artifact on your board. Against aggro, copy something defensive. Against control, copy Jhoira and draw. Close games with Marionette Master draining the table as your Powerstones sacrifice, or build a Scrap Trawler chain that rebuilds your board after every wipe. The deck holds up under pressure and can win back from an empty board.
