The Commanders

Enduring Enchantments is an Abzan Commander deck built around one of MTG's most resilient synergy loops: cast enchantments, trigger card draw, and then pull them back from the graveyard as threats. The deck plays like a classic enchantress engine but adds a reanimation twist that punishes opponents who think answering your enchantments ends the problem.

Anikthea, Hand of Erebos is the engine. She has menace, and when she enters or attacks, she exiles an enchantment from your graveyard and creates a 3/3 Zombie token that's a copy of it. Every enchantment you cast and lose becomes a body. She rewards aggressive play: the more enchantments your opponents remove, the bigger your zombie army gets.

Narci, Fable Singer is the grind alternative. She draws a card whenever you sacrifice an enchantment, and when the final chapter of a Saga you control resolves, she drains each opponent for life equal to that Saga's mana value. In creature-heavy pods where Anikthea dies fast, Narci converts your enchantment churn into life advantage and card flow instead.

Key Cards

Setessan Champion
Art by Magali Villeneuve

Setessan Champion

Every enchantment you cast puts a +1/+1 counter on Setessan Champion and draws you a card. In this deck, that triggers constantly. A turn-four Setessan Champion followed by two or three cheap enchantments refills your hand while building a 5/5 or 6/6 attacker. She scales with the density of enchantments in the deck and is one of the main reasons the engine sustains itself through removal.

Sigil of the Empty Throne
Art by Zoltan Boros

Sigil of the Empty Throne

Each enchantment you cast creates a 4/4 flying Angel token. With an enchantress engine running, one turn can produce two or three Angels. Those tokens attack over the ground game and threaten a lethal air assault within a few turns. Sigil converts the deck's card-casting density directly into board presence, and unlike many win conditions it comes online early enough to matter before opponents have established defenses.

Doomwake Giant
Art by Slawomir Maniak

Doomwake Giant

Every enchantment entering the battlefield triggers Doomwake Giant to give all opponents' creatures -1/-1 until end of turn. In this deck, that trigger fires repeatedly each turn. A board loaded with small creatures gets wiped passively while you keep casting enchantments. Doomwake is also removal for utility creatures that other spot removal misses, and it pairs especially well with Anikthea making Zombie tokens: you swing with threats while shrinking blockers.

Eidolon of Blossoms
Art by Eric Deschamps

Eidolon of Blossoms

A second Setessan Champion effect: each enchantment entering the battlefield draws you a card. Stack Eidolon with Setessan Champion and every enchantment cast draws two cards and grows your Champion. The deck has enough enchantments that this becomes unmanageable for opponents to keep up with on card advantage alone. Eidolon is the reason the deck rarely runs out of gas even after a board wipe.

Binding the Old Gods
Art by Magali Villeneuve

Binding the Old Gods

A Saga that does three things: destroy a nonland permanent, tutor a Forest to the battlefield, then give all your creatures deathtouch. Every chapter matters: removal, ramp, then a board-wide combat upgrade in one card. When the final chapter fires, Narci drains the table for three life each. Binding is one of the most efficient cards in the deck, and it's a big part of why Sagas make Narci a credible alternative to Anikthea.

Mirari's Wake
Art by Zoltan Boros

Mirari's Wake

Doubles all your mana and gives every creature you control +1/+1. This enchantment is a bomb in the late game: all your Zombie tokens hit harder, and your mana surplus lets you chain multiple enchantments per turn. The cascade of draw triggers from Eidolon and Setessan Champion becomes overwhelming when you can tap twice as many lands. Mirari's Wake is the card that turns a midgame position into a dominant one.

How to Play

Open by ramping and deploying enchantress draw engines. Eidolon of Blossoms, Setessan Champion, and Sythis, Harvest's Hand all turn the rest of your deck into card draw. Get Anikthea into play around turn four and start swinging. Each enchantment you lose to removal or sacrifice feeds her Zombie-making ability on her next attack. The engine is self-sustaining: cast enchantments to draw, lose enchantments to pay for threats, then recover them as Zombies.

Win through two paths: flood the board with Angels from Sigil of the Empty Throne and Zombie tokens from Anikthea, or drain the table out with Narci's Saga triggers. Doomwake Giant keeps opponents' boards small while you build wide. The deck rewards patience in the first few turns but snowballs hard once the enchantress draw chain is active.
