The Commanders

Avengers Assemble is the Jeskai Hero deck from Marvel's Super Heroes. Almost every creature here has the Hero type, and the deck is built to reward you for flooding the board with them. You play cheap Heroes, hand them vigilance and haste, and let the +1/+1 counters pile up until the team is too big to race.

Captain America, Team Leader is the counter engine. Every other Hero you play lands ready to attack with vigilance and haste, and puts a counter on itself and on Cap. That means each new body swings the turn it arrives while Cap keeps growing in the background. String two or three Heroes together in a turn and you have added counters across the board and pointed a hasty attack at someone before they can set up a blocker.

Director Nick Fury is the second commander and the deck's fuel. He drops the cost of your Hero spells by one, so the curve gets cheaper as the game goes long. When you attack he looks at the top four cards and pulls a Hero into your hand, so combat keeps refilling your grip. Lead with Fury when you want a grindier game plan and Cap when you want to snowball fast.

Key Cards

Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings
Art by Carissa Susilo

Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi gets a +1/+1 counter every time you draw a card, and this deck draws a lot. When his tenth counter lands you draw five cards and gain five life, which usually decides the game on the spot. Pair him with Nick Fury's attack draws or any of the deck's card-draw Heroes and the counter total climbs faster than opponents expect.

Iron Man, Armored Avenger
Art by Carlos Dattoli

Iron Man, Armored Avenger

Iron Man turns every card you draw into a +1/+1 counter on a creature of your choice, so your draw spells double as a pump package. When he attacks, your modified creatures gain flying, which lets a grounded board suddenly go over the top. Anything carrying a counter, an Equipment, or an Aura counts as modified, and this deck hands those out constantly.

Captain Marvel, Apex Avenger
Art by Julie Bell

Captain Marvel, Apex Avenger

Captain Marvel is the top end. She flies, has double strike, and cannot be destroyed, so a single connection hits hard and survives most removal. Better still, every counter you put on another creature copies onto her, so the whole counter theme feeds a growing double-striker. Cast her when the board has stalled and she closes the game in a swing or two.

Winter Soldier, Reborn Avenger
Art by Lucio Parrillo

Winter Soldier, Reborn Avenger

Winter Soldier brings a creature back from your graveyard every time he attacks, as long as its mana value is no more than his power. Since he grows with counters, the ceiling on what he returns climbs during the game. When the card that comes back is a Hero, it enters with an extra counter, so recursion and the counter plan reinforce each other.

She-Hulk, Wallbreaker
Art by Julia Vasilyeva

She-Hulk, Wallbreaker

She-Hulk gives all your Heroes trample, which stops chump blockers from saving anyone. When a Hero gets blocked, it picks up a counter for each creature blocking it, so gang-blocking your team just makes it bigger. She punishes opponents for standing in front of your attackers either way, and the trample means the damage gets through regardless.

Kindred Discovery
Art by Stephanie Hans

Kindred Discovery

Name Hero as you resolve it and the deck turns into a draw machine. Every Hero you play or attack with draws a card, and with this many Heroes that is often two or three cards a turn cycle. Those extra draws feed Shang-Chi's counters and Iron Man's triggers, so Kindred Discovery quietly powers half the deck while it refills your hand.

How to Play

Open with a mana rock and a cheap Hero or two so Cap has targets to buff the moment he lands. Once a commander is down, chain Heroes together to spread counters and swing with haste before the table stabilizes. Keep the draw engines online, because Shang-Chi, Iron Man, and Kindred Discovery all convert cards into board growth. Your fastest kills come from a wide counter turn plus flying from Iron Man or double strike from Captain Marvel, so hold a Hero or two back to deploy after a board wipe. Protect your commanders, keep the counters flowing, and let the team outgrow the rest of the pod.
