The Commanders

Temmet, Naktamun's Will

Eternal Might is an Esper Zombie tribal deck from Aetherdrift. Temmet, Naktamun's Will leads a classic Zombie horde strategy: generate Zombie tokens, buff them with lord effects, and use the graveyard as a second hand. The deck combines token generation with reanimation, so the horde never stays dead for long. Against fair pods without sweepers, the Zombie army regenerates faster than opponents can kill it.

Temmet, Naktamun's Will generates Zombie tokens and rewards you for maintaining a large undead army. He uses discard and graveyard mechanics to build a board from both hand and yard, then applies pressure through a growing horde. Alternative commanders like The Scarab God and Varina, Lich Queen are included for those who prefer a more aggressive or graveyard-centric approach.

Key Cards

The Scarab God

The Scarab God

The most powerful Zombie commander in the format and a key engine card here. The Scarab God pays 4 mana to exile a creature from any graveyard and create a 4/4 Zombie copy of it. Each upkeep, it scries and drains each opponent for the number of Zombies you control. And crucially, when it dies it returns to your hand at the beginning of the next end step rather than going to your command zone. This resilience makes it the backbone of any Zombie deck that includes black and blue.

Grave Titan

Grave Titan

A 6/6 deathtouch that creates two 2/2 Zombie tokens when it enters and whenever it attacks. A single attack step from Grave Titan with The Scarab God draining for Zombie count means Grave Titan attacks and generates 2 Zombies, those feed Scarab God's drain trigger, and the board grows by two per combat. Over three turns, Grave Titan alone creates six Zombies alongside a 6/6 deathtouch attacking. This is the deck's most efficient threat-to-token-ratio card.

God-Eternal Oketra

God-Eternal Oketra

A 3/6 double striker that generates 4/4 Zombie Warrior tokens. Whenever you cast a creature spell, Oketra creates a 4/4 Zombie with vigilance. Every creature you play after Oketra comes with a free 4/4. In a deck where you're consistently casting creatures, that's multiple 4/4 Zombie tokens per turn. Oketra is also resilient: when she dies, you can put her third from the top of your library instead of into the graveyard. She recurs herself naturally.

Gravecrawler

Gravecrawler

The best recursive one-drop in Zombie tribal. As long as you control a Zombie, you can cast Gravecrawler from your graveyard. In a deck full of Zombies, this means Gravecrawler is effectively indestructible: it dies and you immediately replay it for one mana. With Zulaport Cutthroat or Blood Artist in play, replaying Gravecrawler repeatedly generates infinite drain. Even without those, it provides a constant sacrifice outlet for Ashnod's Altar loops.

Lord of the Accursed

Lord of the Accursed

A Zombie lord with a useful activated ability. Lord of the Accursed gives all other Zombies you control +1/+1 and can be tapped to give your Zombie army menace until end of turn. That menace activation is the key: attacking with 20 Zombies that require two blockers each is nearly impossible to stop. Combined with other Zombie lords like Death Baron (deathtouch) and Zombie Master, the deck can stack multiple keyword grants onto the entire horde for explosive attack turns.

Rooftop Storm

Rooftop Storm

Zombies cost zero mana to cast. That's the whole text: Zombie spells cost zero. With Gravecrawler, a sacrifice outlet, and Rooftop Storm, you create an infinite loop: cast Gravecrawler for free, sacrifice it, cast it again. This combo generates infinite death triggers, infinite Zombie entries, and infinite mana with Ashnod's Altar. It's the reason 59% of upgraded Eternal Might decks add Rooftop Storm as their first upgrade: it converts a good Zombie deck into a combo kill machine.

How to Play

Spend turns one through three establishing mana and deploying early Zombies: Gravecrawler on turn one, mana rock on two, Temmet or a lord on three. The deck snowballs from early Zombie presence: each turn you maintain board state, your Zombie lords make the attack stronger and the board wider.

The mid-game convergence point is Grave Titan plus a Zombie lord. That configuration attacks with a 6/6 deathtouch backed by a growing token army, draining through The Scarab God and threatening Zombie menace from Lord of the Accursed. Win primarily through combat damage with a buffed horde, or assemble Rooftop Storm plus Gravecrawler for the infinite loop. Against sweeper-heavy pods, Gravecrawler's recursion ensures you rebuild after every wipe.
