commander · Galadriel, Elven-Queen
Elven Council (LTC).
A Simic Elf tribal deck led by Galadriel, Elven-Queen — ramp with Elves, tempt opponents with the Ring to push your Ring-bearer's power, and overwhelm the table with a massive Elven army.
The Commanders
Elven Council is a Simic Commander deck themed around the wise and powerful Elves of Middle-earth. The core plan is classic Elf tribal — ramp hard, flood the board with Elves, and turn all that mana into an overwhelming attack. Galadriel adds the LOTR Ring temptation mechanic, using the vote she triggers each combat to gain incremental advantage while building toward a lethal board state.
Galadriel, Elven-Queen triggers at the beginning of combat if another Elf entered the battlefield under your control this turn. Players vote for dominion or guidance: dominion tempts you with the Ring and puts a +1/+1 counter on your Ring-bearer; guidance draws you a card. With Elf tribal generating constant enter-the-battlefield triggers, Galadriel fires nearly every turn — either advancing your Ring-bearer or refilling your hand depending on which vote the table chooses.
Gandalf, Westward Voyager is the spells-matter alternative. Whenever you cast a spell with mana value five or greater, Gandalf copies it if opponents reveal a card sharing a type, otherwise you draw a card. In a ramp-heavy deck that regularly casts large spells, Gandalf creates repeated card advantage or free spell copies. He pairs well with the deck's high-mana payoffs and is the better choice against control-heavy pods that outpace you on card draw.
Key Cards
Elvish Archdruid
The single most important card in any Elf deck. Archdruid gives all other Elves +1/+1 and taps to add green mana equal to the number of Elves you control. With a board of ten Elves, you're generating ten extra green mana every turn. That mana cascades into more Elves which generates more mana. Archdruid makes the deck's exponential growth phase possible and is the primary reason Elf tribal decks end games so abruptly.
Celeborn the Wise
Celeborn pairs directly with Galadriel — whenever the Ring tempts you, create a 1/1 white Elf Warrior token. Every time Galadriel triggers a dominion vote and the Ring tempts you, you get a free Elf. Those Elves then fuel Archdruid's mana generation and trigger Galadriel's combat ability again next turn. Celeborn is the bridge between Galadriel's Ring mechanic and the Elf tribal payoffs the rest of the deck runs.
Legolas Greenleaf
Legolas enters with two arrow counters and can tap and remove a counter to tap a target creature an opponent controls. He's repeatable pseudo-removal — prevent key blockers or tap down an opponent's commander before attacking. His second ability creates a Warrior token whenever an opponent's creature you control deals combat damage. He's utility, evasion enabler, and token generator in one card.
Genesis Wave
The game-ending finisher. With Elvish Archdruid and a board of ten Elves generating ten-plus mana, cast Genesis Wave for X equals eight or more. Reveal that many cards off the top and put all permanent cards directly onto the battlefield. One Genesis Wave can deploy your entire hand plus five or six more permanents in a single action. After resolving, your board is so large opponents have no realistic answer before your next attack.
Arwen, Weaver of Hope
A new card from the LOTR Commander set. Arwen gives each creature you control with a +1/+1 counter on it indestructible and lifelink. With Galadriel regularly putting counters on your Ring-bearer and Celeborn creating counters on Elves, Arwen makes those creatures indestructible. Lifelink buys you time against aggro decks while the Elf engine assembles. She's a powerful defensive tool that doubles as a threat.
How to Play
Play Elves in a tight curve. Elvish Mystic and Arbor Elf accelerate into Elvish Archdruid by turn two or three. Once Archdruid is in play, flood the board — each Elf you play fuels more mana for the next. Get Galadriel online by turn four and start voting every combat step, gaining counters and drawing cards.
Win through Genesis Wave off a full Archdruid mana production, or through combat damage with an indestructible, lifelinked board after Arwen resolves. The deck is resilient once it has six or more Elves — board wipes are setbacks but not eliminations since you rebuild quickly. Against faster pods, Galadriel's card draw keeps your hand full through the disruption.
