commander · Osgir, the Reconstructor
Lorehold Legacies (C21).
A Boros artifacts deck built around Osgir, the Reconstructor — sacrifice artifacts to deal extra damage, then exile them from the graveyard to create two token copies, building an overwhelming artifact army.
The Commanders
Lorehold Legacies is a Boros Commander deck centered on artifacts, sacrifice, and recursion. Osgir turns your graveyard into an artifact factory — you sacrifice small artifacts to deal bonus damage, then exile them to replicate your best bombs. The deck contains 36 artifacts that feed Osgir's graveyard loop and close games with overwhelming copies of game-winning threats.
Osgir, the Reconstructor costs {3}{R}{W} and is a 4/4 Giant Artificer with two abilities. The first lets you sacrifice an artifact to have Osgir deal damage equal to the artifact's mana value to target creature or planeswalker. The second — activated for {X} and tapping while not on the battlefield — exiles an artifact from your graveyard and creates two token copies of it. Osgir's second ability activates at instant speed from your hand, which opponents often miss. He doubles every artifact you recur — two Myr Battlespheres, two Sol Rings, two Darksteel Forges.
Alibou, Ancient Witness is the aggressive alternative. Alibou gives artifacts you control haste, and whenever you tap one or more artifacts, Alibou deals damage to a player equal to the number tapped and you can scry 1. Against aggressive pods where combat is dangerous, Alibou closes games faster than Osgir's recursion engine.
Key Cards
Triplicate Titan
The deck's ultimate Osgir target. Triplicate Titan is a 6/6 artifact creature that enters with flying, vigilance, and trample, and when it dies, creates three 3/3 Golem token copies. Sacrifice it to Osgir's first ability to deal 6 damage and get three Golems. Then activate Osgir's second ability to exile it from the graveyard and create two new copies of the 6/6 — each of which dies to create three more Golems when removed. Opponents need to answer six or more 3/3s just to deal with one Titan activation.
Darksteel Forge
Insurance against artifact removal. Darksteel Forge makes all artifacts you control indestructible. A single board wipe no longer wipes your entire artifact army. With Darksteel Forge on the table, opponents need exile effects to deal with your permanents — a much higher bar. Osgir can create two copies of the Forge from the graveyard, making it nearly impossible to remove once the engine is established. This card changes what interaction opponents need to bring to the table.
Myr Battlesphere
Token generation and damage in one artifact creature. Myr Battlesphere enters with four 1/1 Myr tokens. When it attacks, you can tap any number of Myr to have it deal that much damage to the defending player in addition to combat damage. Osgir doubling Myr Battlesphere creates two of the 4/7s plus eight Myr tokens. That's 18 combat damage plus the ability to tap Myr for additional burn before blockers. A single Osgir activation on a Battlesphere ends games.
Bronze Guardian
A Commander 2021 exclusive and the deck's best defensive artifact. Bronze Guardian's power and toughness equal the number of artifacts you control. Ward {2} means opponents pay two extra mana every time they target it. In a deck with 36+ artifacts, Bronze Guardian quickly becomes a 20/20 or larger with ward protection. It discourages targeted removal and turns your artifact count directly into a threat. Osgir creating a second copy of it doubles the math on both stats.
How to Play
Mulligan aggressively for an opening hand with two or three artifact mana rocks — Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and similar. The deck needs four or five artifacts in the graveyard before Osgir's second ability becomes explosive. Sacrifice cheap artifacts to Osgir's first ability for damage in the mid game, building up graveyard stock. When you have the mana, activate Osgir's second ability targeting Triplicate Titan or Myr Battlesphere for the biggest immediate impact. Keep Darksteel Forge in hand until opponents commit their board wipe, then play it into an empty board to rebuild in safety.
