Inquisitor Eisenhorn · Marneus Calgar
An Esper token and investigation deck led by Inquisitor Eisenhorn, investigate to create Clue tokens, sacrifice them to transform Eisenhorn and deploy powerful Imperial forces with For the Emperor! effects.
Four faction decks straight into Commander: the Imperium, the Necrons, Chaos and the Tyranids. No draft set, all new legends.
A ravenous creature is cast with X in its cost, enters with X +1/+1 counters, and draws you a card if X was five or more. It gives the Tyranid deck a mana sink that also replaces itself.
Pay the squad cost any number of extra times as you cast the creature, and get that many token copies of it. One card becomes an army if you have the mana.
Cascade casts a cheaper spell for free off the top of your library. The Chaos deck stacks it heavily, so casting one spell often means casting three.
Create a Clue token you can sacrifice for two mana to draw a card. The Imperium deck uses Clues as both card flow and artifact fuel.
Warhammer 40,000 was the first Universes Beyond product to arrive as four Commander decks with no accompanying draft set, and it worked because the factions map cleanly onto color identities.
Every deck comes with two possible commanders, so there are eight legends across the four boxes. Ravenous and squad are the mechanics carrying the flavor, both of them mana sinks that convert a big turn into a bigger board.
The power level surprised people at release. These were designed without a draft environment to balance against, and several cards, particularly in the Necron and Chaos decks, ended up stronger than the usual precon baseline. The Imperium deck is the most casual of the four.
The decks also lean harder on their commanders than most precons do. Each box is built so that the deck plan barely functions without one of its two legends on the battlefield, which makes commander protection a genuine upgrade priority rather than an afterthought.
Necron Dynasties is the strongest and the one people still play years later. The Ruinous Powers is the most chaotic and the most likely to cascade into something the deck cannot handle.
