The Commander

Emmara, Soul of the Accord
Emmara, Soul of the Accord · Art by Mark Winters

Token Triumph is the Selesnya token Starter Commander precon, and Emmara fits the plan perfectly. Whenever Emmara becomes tapped, you create a 1/1 white Soldier token with lifelink. She costs two mana, so she hits the battlefield early and makes tokens off any tap, not only attacking. Crew a vehicle, tap her for a convoke spell, or use a tap ability: each one hands you a free token. The deck wants to tap Emmara as many times as it can while it builds the army that wins the game.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord rewards players who run convoke spells, vehicles, and tap synergies. Because she creates lifelink tokens, aggressive strategies that deal damage to opponents also generate life, keeping you healthy while you build to the winning alpha strike.

Key Cards

March of the Multitudes
Art by Victor Adame Minguez

March of the Multitudes

Convoke, at instant speed, creates X 1/1 white Soldier tokens with lifelink, where X equals the green and white mana you pay plus the creatures you tapped. On a wide board you drop twenty to thirty tokens at instant speed on an opponent's end step. Every token has lifelink, so the swing back gains you a pile of life. Tapping Emmara to help cast the spell makes one more token on top, so it pays for itself.

Intangible Virtue
Art by Nils Hamm

Intangible Virtue

Token creatures you control get +1/+1 and have vigilance. Emmara's tokens are 1/1 lifelinkers, and with Intangible Virtue they become 2/2 vigilant lifelinkers. They attack without tapping, so they still block on the crack back. In a token deck making fifteen to twenty tokens a game, this enchantment turns a middling swarm into a board that wins combat against anything short of large blockers and gains you a pile of life doing it.

Craterhoof Behemoth
Art by Daarken

Craterhoof Behemoth

When Craterhoof enters, all creatures you control get +X/+X and trample until end of turn where X equals the number of creatures you control. With twenty token creatures on board, every one of those tokens becomes a 22/22 trampler swinging for game. One Craterhoof attack with a wide board kills every opponent in a single swing. The whole plan, making tokens and never losing them, pays off in this one spell.

Rhys the Redeemed
Art by Scott M. Fischer

Rhys the Redeemed

A one-mana 1/1 with two activated abilities: four mana to create a 1/1 Elf token, and six mana to double all tokens you control. The doubling ability is the game-changer. A board of twelve tokens becomes twenty-four. Twenty becomes forty. Pair Rhys with Intangible Virtue and each of those doubled tokens is a 2/2 vigilant lifelinker. Rhys's early presence as a one-drop also means he taps for Emmara convoke spells without costing a real creature slot.

Felidar Retreat
Art by Lie Setiawan

Felidar Retreat

Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you either create a 2/2 white Cat Beast token or put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control. In a deck playing lands every turn, Felidar Retreat generates a token or buffs the team once per land drop. Early turns, take the tokens to build the swarm. Mid-game when the board is full, take the counters to push each token into lethal range. Retreat is a passive generator that rewards normal play without requiring additional mana investment.

How to Play

Get Emmara onto the battlefield by turn two and start tapping her every chance you get: convoke spells, vehicles, any tap outlet. The goal is twelve to fifteen tokens by turn six. Rhys doubles your tokens and Felidar Retreat makes free ones off each land drop. Mid-game, deploy Intangible Virtue to give the army vigilance and +1/+1, then cast March of the Multitudes on an opponent's end step to triple your board. Win through Craterhoof Behemoth: cast it when you have fifteen or more tokens and the whole board becomes a lethal trampler army. The lifelink on Emmara's tokens keeps your life total high enough to weather any aggression while you build to the finishing blow.
